The juices are very rare on the fir trees, the harvest of this honey is of protected Geographical indication, and therefore particularly difficult and its low productivity. Fir honeys of this quality are very rare, which explains the higher price.
Made from honeydew deposited on the branches of fir trees, Honey has a balsamic and malty smell and aromas, moderately persistent in the mouth, without bitterness or aftertaste.
Dark in color, fir honey has surprising dark green reflections, a strongly aromatic smell, a liquid consistency and an exquisite, balsamic and malty aroma. It tastes surprisingly unsweetened for honey.
Coming directly from the Beekeeper in Châtenois (Bas Rhin) and member of the Regional Confederation of Beekeepers of Alsace.
The Alsace Fir Honey benefits from a Protected Geographical Identification (PGI) guaranteeing its origin and specificity.
The PGI specification sets out the production rules.
They are regularly checked by a certification body.
Recognised by this PGI, only honey produced in Alsace in accordance with the specifications laid down can be called Miel d'Alsace.
Alsatian beekeepers are members of the Organisme de Défense et de Gestion (ODG) Miels d'Alsace.
